As reported in our last newsletter, work continues on the most effective way to spend this money. A document was to be considered at PMC in June, but in the event this was withdrawn for more discussion and it is hoped a revised paper will be agreed shortly. It is likely that this will take on board the lessons learned from LEGI (Local Enterprise Growth Initiative) and from the many Third Sector initiatives on how to encourage access to employment for those from the worst-off areas, as well as excluded communities of interest. MNE raised this at the City Employment Strategy Board and hopes that there could be a Merseyside-wide partnership bid for this, based on the success of Future Jobs Fund and other schemes on Merseyside.
