RS2010 provides the North West with a unique opportunity to bring together its spatial, economic, social and environmental strategies and build a new long term vision for the region. The goal is to produce an agreed strategy which will guide action and investment by Business, National and Local Government and the Voluntary and Community Sectors.
MNE and Greater Merseyside ChangeUp (with Voluntary Sector North West) are holding an event to look at Part 1 of RS2010 which has been produced following the consultation on the Issues & Principles Paper during 2009. Groups from across Greater Merseyside took part in the first consultation and our contribution is evident.
At this free event partners from the regional agencies will give a brief overview on RS2010 and a presentation on the key points in Part 1. Attendees will have the opportunity to feedback to regional partners and this provides an opportunity to discuss the shared priorities important to Greater Merseyside’s development.
The RS2010 strategy is very important to the sector because it will become a key framework for determining funding priorities for the years to come.
It puts people at the heart of the Strategy, with opportunities to address climate change, tackle health issues, release the potential of our people and tackle poverty.
The consultation asks if we want to focus action on developing a world class Third Sector playing a stronger role in the region, ensuring better procurement and adopting a positive policy for mutuals.
The evidence has shown that the third sector has managed to influence the development of Part 1 of RS2010. It is important that we make the most of this opportunity to further influence the strategy through this consultation.
This consultation event is aimed at Third Sector organisations across Greater Merseyside and will take place on Thursday 11th February from 9.30am to 1.00pm (followed by lunch) at Blackburne House, Liverpool, L8 7PE.
